Where is it?

Lugu Lake lies on the border between Sichuan and Yunnan, a stunning lake nested on the Northern Yunnan Plateau.

Lugu lake is just off the Liangshan Yi Minority Autonomous region, people live around the lakeside called are called Mosuo, a sub-group of Naxi ethnic group(Naxi people mostly live in Lijiang). Which is the unique to this ethnic group the Matriarchy is still in practice.

As a Matrilineal duolocal society, the Mosuo have been more successful in retaining their culture than the Nakhi, and are divided into four generations in a household. Upon reaching the age of fifteen, a female Axia will select a male Azhu, who has to reach at least seventeen, in a ritual dance. Local authority is boasting the tourism in Yunnan side, many hotels or toursim-related business are mushrooming, in last few years, It has already become a hot tourist destination in Southwest China. But fortunately in Sichuan side and northwest side of the lake, the culture and people's life have not been disturbed too much yet, thus all the things are cheap and original.
